Noxious Weed Department

Beginning November 1, 2013, the Gray County Road Department will enforce the law prohibiting the farming of county road ditches.  According to KSA 68-545, it is unlawful for any person or persons to obstruct any portion of a public highway, including excavations, removal of materials, dumping trash or other materials or plowing of roads. The penalty would be payment of cost to restore the road, which includes the right of way of the ditch. Obstruction of the road ditches are considered a public hazard by law, so do not farm the county right of way. The Road Department will start mowing the “full” county road right of way beginning next year.  Thank you for helping the department with the mowing of ditches……it is much appreciated. We will strive to do the best job that we can do for you. If you have questions, please call Sean Wendel, 620-855-7701, Gray County Road Department.
